How it works
- Click "Compress an image now" and choose your image.
- The Export window opens with a live preview. Choose JPG or WebP for photos; PNG is best for screenshots and graphics.
- Lower the Quality slider and watch the file size update. If it’s still too big, reduce the Scale a little.
- When the size and preview look right, click Download.
Why use Brushvane
- Exact sizes, not estimates: the number shown is the size of the file you will download.
- A live preview of the exported image so you can spot compression artefacts before saving.
- WebP support, which is often far smaller than JPG at the same visual quality.
- Resize and compress in one step to meet strict upload limits.
- Private and free, with no limit on the number of files.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Brushvane runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your images are opened, edited and saved on your own device and are never sent to a server, so they cannot be seen, stored or reused by anyone else.
How do I get a photo under 100 KB?
Export as JPG or WebP, lower the quality to around 60–75, and reduce the scale until the size shown is under 100 KB. Most forms only need around 1000 pixels on the long side.
Which format gives the smallest file?
For photos, WebP is usually smallest, then JPG. For logos, screenshots and graphics with flat colours, PNG often looks better at a similar size.
Will compression remove transparency?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. PNG and WebP keep it.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.
